Serving the Peninsula of Florida!
Rooted in a vision to strengthen faith communities, PenFlorida District Council began its journey with a commitment to nurturing spiritual development and fostering unity among churches.
The General Council of the Assemblies of God recognizes fifty-eight distinct districts. The Peninsular Florida District Council was formed in 1925, when the Southeastern district was disbanded and replaced by several new districts following state lines in the region. In 1929, the state of Florida was broken into two districts when the South Florida district was formed with just 28 churches and missions. In 1961, the South Florida District was renamed “Peninsular Florida.”
Fourteen superintendents have served the district from Jepthat Webb to Terry Raburn. The present superintendent, Terry Raburn, was elected in 1996.
PenFlorida District Council has proudly served a diverse range of churches, ministers, and communities, leaving a lasting impact through its programs and initiatives. Currently, the district has over 350 churches from the Suwanee River to the Atlantic Ocean, and from the Florida-Georgia line to the Florida Keys, and the Virgin Islands, making the PenFlorida district the only district with churches in a foreign country. The district credentials over 1500 ministers, and more than 94,000 church members and adherents.
